“Create-a-show” day at CIMBAD

(5 hours with three activity leaders)

GOAL: To familiarize young people with the process of show creation and production in a professional setting.

Schedule:

CIMBAD activity leaders and puppets welcome you

Presentation of elements and techniques used in the entertainment industry and an on-the-spot demonstration of giant puppet manipulation

Surprises and creativity galore for our future puppeteers

Students are invited to fill out a form in a group about a fictitious character to help them come up with eccentric characters.

Break: Lunch, so the more active ones can stretch their legs.

The story takes shape…

Students form groups of eight to 10 people.

Each of these teams chooses one of the characters.

Each group must fill out a fact sheet with the personal traits of their character (name, age, sex, job, faults, qualities, etc.).

One person per team will be selected to present their character to the other teams.

Storyline and puppet making

Tasks will be assigned to each team as follows:
- Storyline development: Two students assisted by a coach
- Puppet dressing: Two students
- Making the head of the puppet: Two students
- Set design: Three students

Let the show begin… (Demonstration of puppet manipulation, rehearsal and show)
Demonstration of basic puppet manipulation techniques
Distribution of tasks for storyline presentations
Each team is to be divided as follows:
- Puppet manipulation: Six students (three per puppet)
- Character voices on microphone: two or three students
